I’m happy to share that I had the opportunity to attend the G20 German National Day Planning Meeting at Barberyn Ayurveda Resorts, representing the SUNFO Global Federation, and the Sustainability Development Goals Children’s Parliament of Sri Lanka as the Minister of Clean and Affordable Energy 🌍
It was a great experience to be part of the discussions and planning for the upcoming German National Day celebrations.
One of the main topics we discussed was environmental action around the Moragalla coast. 🌊 We explored the idea of a beach cleanup connected to SDG 14 – Life Below Water and SDG 13 – Climate Action.
But we came to an important conclusion: awareness can sometimes create a bigger impact than simply cleaning.
You can clean a beach today, but if the community’s habits don’t change, the pollution can return in just a few weeks. ♻️
Instead, by raising awareness among local communities and encouraging people to protect their environment, we can work towards creating a long-term change. 🌱💡
We also discussed an art competition as part of the upcoming activities. 🎨
I’m really grateful for this opportunity to learn, share ideas, and contribute to something meaningful. I’m excited to see how these plans develop and, most importantly, to see the results on German National Day! 🇩🇪🌍
And yes… I was probably the youngest person in the room at 16! 😄🚀
